CVE-2019-5464Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Internal-network SSRF via failed DNS resolution

Published Jan 28, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

SSRF in GitLab CE/EE 10.2 and later allows remote attackers to read internal-network responses via DNS rebinding. The validate function in url_blocker.rb skips address validation when its initial DNS lookup fails, permitting a later lookup to resolve the same hostname to an internal address. Reachability depends on a feature that passes an attacker-controlled URL to the shared blocker; successful requests expose services reachable from the GitLab host.
