Device reboot via malformed TD-SCDMA message parsing
Published Apr 27, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper input validation in Huawei smartphone firmware allows physically proximate attackers to reboot affected devices via radio messages. The TD-SCDMA message parser fails to validate two supplied values, allowing crafted messages to enter an infinite loop. Exploitation requires a rogue TD-SCDMA base station within radio range; the documented consequence is a device reboot, with no reported data disclosure or modification.
