Root command execution via unescaped XML type value
Published Mar 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in the iocheckd I/O-Check function in WAGO PFC200 firmware 03.02.02(14) allows local users to run commands as root. The type node from /tmp/iocheckCache.xml is inserted by sprintf into a config_interfaces shell command without neutralization and passed to system(). Any local user who can write the globally writable cache file can trigger its parsing with a BC_SaveParameter packet, gaining root-level command execution.
