Local command execution via unescaped XML IP value
Published Mar 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Command injection in WAGO PFC200 firmware 03.02.02(14) allows local users to execute arbitrary commands via a crafted XML cache file. iocheckd inserts the cache's ip node into a config_interfaces command with sprintf() and passes the resulting string to system() without neutralizing shell metacharacters. An attacker must write the globally writable cache file and send a BC_SaveParameter message, after which the injected command runs as root.
