OS command injection in Moxa AWK-3131A firmware 1.13 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands. Persisted Device Name data reaches iw_ip_update after reboot, which inserts the hostname into an iw_system shell command that appends to /etc/hosts. Administrative access to the web or Telnet configuration interface is required, and successful injection grants full control of the appliance.

What happened
