Authenticated command execution via unescaped diagnostic filename
Published Feb 25, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in Moxa AWK-3131A firmware 1.13 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through a diagnostic file name. The decryptScriptFile routine passes the unescaped name of an encrypted diagnostic script to the iw_system system-call wrapper before decryption. Low-privilege access to the network management interface is sufficient, and successful exploitation grants command execution and control of the appliance.
