CVE-2019-5105Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Service crash via unchecked packet offset underflow

Published Mar 26, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Memory corruption in CODESYS GatewayService before 3.5.16.10 allows remote attackers to crash the process with a crafted packet. RouterGetBlkAddresses fails to validate packet-derived offsets before subtracting one from the packet length, so an integer underflow becomes the size argument for a stack-destination memcpy. An unauthenticated TCP connection to the gateway service is sufficient, and exploitation terminates GatewayService rather than altering or disclosing data.
