Unauthenticated root execution via file_transfer.cgi command injection
Published Apr 30, 2019 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Command injection in Crestron AM-100 1.6.0.2 allows remote attackers to execute commands as root via file_transfer.cgi. The unused CGI handler accepts crafted dir POST values as command input without enforcing authentication, allowing injected commands to run on the appliance. The shared handler also affects listed Barco, Extron, Teq AV IT, SHARP, Optoma, Blackbox, and InFocus firmware; exploitation requires network access to the endpoint but no credentials or user interaction.
