Code execution via unsanitized site-report URL
Published Feb 24, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site scripting in McAfee WebAdvisor Chrome before 8.0.34745 and Firefox before 8.0.0.34239 allows remote attackers to execute code. The site_report.html page trims the url query value, embeds it in a localization string, and passes the result to jQuery.append without neutralizing HTML. A malicious website must induce two clicks to add a crafted whitelist entry and open UIHost.exe, where injected script can write privileged Windows registry values and launch commands.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
