Local code execution via report input overflow

Published Mar 24, 2026 · Updated Mar 24, 2026

Stack-based buffer overflow in AIDA64 Business 5.99.4900 allows local users to execute code through crafted report inputs. The Report Wizard places an overlong Load from file value into a 292-byte buffer and overwrites nSEH and SEH, while the SMTP display-name field stores the egg payload. Exploitation requires local control of both application fields and executes shellcode with the privileges of the AIDA64 process.
