Local code execution via Folder Path SEH overwrite
Published Mar 22, 2026 · Updated Mar 22, 2026
Buffer overflow in Admin Express 1.2.5.485 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through the System Compare Folder Path field. An oversized alphanumeric string overwrites the stack-based SEH record and redirects control through a pop-pop-return sequence in wmiwrap.DLL. The payload must be entered locally and triggered with the scale icon; successful code runs with the application's privileges.
