Application crash via oversized connection Host value
Published Mar 21, 2026 · Updated Mar 21, 2026
Out-of-bounds write in Valentina Studio 9.0.5 for Linux allows local users to crash the application through an oversized Host value. The connection dialog accepts more than 264 bytes in its Host field and processes the oversized value without an effective bounds check during a server connection attempt. Exploitation requires desktop access to paste the crafted value and start the connection, and the documented consequence is limited to an application crash.
