Administrator-browser script execution via unsanitized VPN parameters

Published Feb 18, 2026 · Updated Feb 18, 2026

Cross-site scripting in IPFire 2.21 Core Update 127 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in administrator browsers via POST requests. The ovpnmain.cgi script inserts VPN configuration parameters into generated pages without neutralizing script markup. An attacker must reach the management interface and induce an administrator to render the submitted value; execution is confined to that browser context.
