Browser script execution via reflected NTP_SERVER input
Published Feb 16, 2026 · Updated Feb 16, 2026
Reflected XSS in Smoothwall Express 3.1 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in users' browsers through crafted POST requests. The time.cgi handler reflects the unescaped NTP_SERVER parameter from a POST body into its HTML response, allowing script markup to run. Exploitation requires user interaction with the crafted response; successful code runs only in the affected browser's Smoothwall interface context.
