Browser script execution via unencoded DHCP parameters
Published Feb 16, 2026 · Updated Feb 16, 2026
Reflected XSS in Smoothwall Express 3.1 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in a user's browser through crafted dhcp.cgi POST parameters. The CGI handler returns DHCP configuration fields such as BOOT_SERVER and STATIC_IP in its HTML response without neutralizing script markup. Exploitation requires a user to process the crafted response; injected code runs in that user's browser context and can read or alter page data.
