Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Feb 12, 2026 · Updated Feb 12, 2026
Privilege escalation in Realtek RTK I2S Codec Service 6.4.10041.133 allows local users to execute code through an unquoted service path. The RtkI2SCodec service registers C:\Program Files\Realtek\Audio\IIS\RtkI2SAudioService64.exe without enclosing quotation marks, allowing Windows to select an attacker-planted executable at an earlier path boundary. Low-privileged local access and write access to a searched parent directory are required; successful exploitation runs code with elevated service privileges.
