Local code execution via SEH overwrite
Published Feb 12, 2026 · Updated Feb 12, 2026
Heap-based buffer overflow in Prime95 29.8 by Mersenne Research, Inc. allows local users to execute arbitrary code through crafted PrimeNet input. The PrimeNet user ID, computer name, and proxy host fields accept oversized data that overwrites SEH through libhwloc-15.dll and redirects execution to supplied shellcode. Exploitation requires a user to paste the generated payload into the Windows GUI and submit the connection settings; the published artifact opens a bind shell on port 3110.
