Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Feb 11, 2026 · Updated Feb 11, 2026
Unquoted service path in ActFax ActiveFax Server 6.92 Build 0316 allows local users to execute code with administrative privileges. The ActiveFaxServiceNT service registers C:\Program Files\ActiveFax\Server\ActSrvNT.exe without quotes, so Windows can select an attacker-planted executable at a space-delimited parent path. Exploitation requires local write access to a searched parent location and a service start, after which the planted program runs under the configured service account.
