Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Feb 11, 2026 · Updated Feb 11, 2026
Unquoted service path in BlackMoon FTP Server 3.1.2.1731 allows local users to execute code with LocalSystem privileges. The BMFTP-RELEASE service registers the unquoted executable path C:\Program Files (x86)\Selom Ofori\BlackMoon FTP Server\FTPService.exe while running as LocalSystem. A low-privileged local user must place a malicious executable in a searched path location and wait for service startup or a system reboot, after which the code gains full host privileges.
