Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Feb 6, 2026 · Updated Feb 6, 2026
Unquoted service path handling in Acer Launch Manager 6.1.7600.16385 allows local users to execute code with SYSTEM privileges. DsiWMIService registers C:\Program Files (x86)\Launch Manager\dsiwmis.exe without quotes, so Windows can select an attacker-planted executable from a parent path when the service starts. Exploitation requires low-privileged local filesystem access to a searched parent path and a service start or system reboot; successful code runs as LocalSystem.
