Authenticated root command execution via unsanitized email parameter
Published Jan 7, 2026 · Updated Jan 7, 2026
Command injection in INIM Electronics SmartLiving SmartLAN/G/SI 6.x and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The testemail path in web.cgi inserts the par POST value into a mailx command string and passes it to system() without sanitization. Valid web credentials, including documented defaults on tested devices, reach the path; successful requests grant full control of the embedded Linux appliance.
