CVE-2019-25285Public exploit

Local privilege escalation via unquoted service path

Published Feb 4, 2026 · Updated Feb 4, 2026

Unquoted service path in ALPS Pointing-device Driver 8.1202.1711.04 allows local users to execute code with SYSTEM privileges. The ApHidMonitorService registers C:\Program Files\Apoint2K\HidMonitorSvc.exe without quotation marks, so Windows can launch an attacker-placed executable from an earlier path segment. A local low-privileged user needs write access to that segment; the payload runs when the automatic LocalSystem service restarts or Windows reboots.
