Code execution via remote-share DLL hijacking
Published Jan 7, 2026 · Updated Jan 7, 2026
DLL hijacking in NREL BEopt 2.6.0.1, 2.7.0.0, and 2.8.0.0 allows remote attackers to execute code via shared project files. BEopt searches the opened project file directory for sdl2.dll and libegl.dll, allowing attacker-planted libraries on WebDAV or SMB shares to load first. Exploitation requires a user to open a .BEopt file from the attacker-controlled share, and the library code runs with that user’s privileges.
