Passwordless root access via unchecked configuration writes
Published Dec 24, 2025 · Updated Dec 24, 2025
Authentication bypass in dLAN 550 duo+ Starter Kit firmware 3.1.0-1 allows remote attackers to gain passwordless root access. The htmlmgr CGI script accepts unvalidated system-configuration keys, including hidden Telnetd, shell, and reboot parameters. Network access to the web interface suffices; rebooting activates the services, after which the root account accepts a login without a password.
