Stored script injection via unprotected REST routes
Published Oct 16, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in Andrew Robbins ShopWP 2.0.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to modify settings and inject scripts through REST routes. Several REST route registrations omit capability checks, so WordPress dispatches their state-changing callbacks for unauthenticated requests. An affected plugin must be enabled on a reachable site; the stored scripts execute when a user loads content that renders them.
