Unauthenticated file read via aam-media path traversal
Published Oct 16, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Path traversal in Advanced Access Manager before 5.9.9 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary server files through aam-media. The printMedia() function accepts the request parameter without confining the resolved path to intended media, enabling traversal to files such as wp-config.php. No authentication is required; exposed configuration files can disclose database credentials, while published evidence establishes neither file modification nor service interruption.
