Jackpot theft via unrestricted ticket reassignment

Published Dec 19, 2023 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Improper access control in Ethex Contracts allows remote authenticated users to redirect monthly and seasonal jackpot payouts. The externally callable loadTickets function writes caller-supplied addresses into arbitrary ticket-number entries without an owner or lottery-role check. Any Ethereum account able to submit a transaction can replace legitimate winners in the ticket mapping and receive the associated Ether payout.
