Administrator phishing and CSRF via unsanitized email conversion
Published Jun 7, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
HTML injection in Saad Iqbal Email Templates 1.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to present phishing forms or trigger CSRF against administrators. The plain-text-to-HTML conversion path inserts attacker-controlled message bodies into an HTML MIME part without sanitizing the content. Exploitation requires attacker-controlled content to enter a WordPress-generated message and an administrator to act on the rendered HTML, enabling credential capture or forged requests.
