Unauthenticated administrator phishing via unvalidated forwarded IP
Published Jun 7, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
HTML injection in WPForms Pirate Forms 2.5.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to place arbitrary HTML in administrator emails. When IP storage is enabled, public/class-pirateforms-public.php replaces validated REMOTE_ADDR data with an unvalidated X-Forwarded-For entry and inserts it into the default HTML email template. An unauthenticated contact-form request can therefore deliver a deceptive link to the administrator mailbox for credential phishing; the flaw does not execute code on the WordPress host.
