Unauthenticated executable upload via forged GIF headers
Published Jun 7, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Arbitrary file upload in Plugin Planet User Submitted Posts before 20190426 allows remote attackers to upload executable files. The usp_check_images function trusts exif_imagetype and getimagesize, so an 11-byte GIF header can conceal appended PHP code. No login is required; code execution occurs when image uploads are enabled and Apache with PHP FastCGI executes a double-extension file.
