Authenticated code execution via XSLT script injection

Published May 18, 2023 · Updated Jan 22, 2025

XSLT injection in Umbraco CMS 4.11.8 through 7.15.10 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary server-side code. The XSLT Visualizer passes the xsltSelection request value to a transformation engine that permits embedded msxsl:script C# code. Administrator credentials and access to the back-office endpoint are required, after which submitted code runs through a spawned process on the server.
