Admin-session script execution via unescaped PTR hostname
Published Dec 28, 2022 · Updated Apr 11, 2025
Stored XSS in Mellivora 2.0 and 2.1 allows remote attackers to execute script when an administrator opens the affected user IP log. The print_user_ip_log function in include/layout/user.inc.php writes the result of gethostbyaddr($entry['ip']) directly into an HTML table cell without output encoding. Hostname lookup must be enabled and an administrator must view the entry; the script then runs in the administrator's browser context.
