CVE-2019-25086Network attack vector

Authenticated script injection via unrestricted TTML URL

Published Dec 27, 2022 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Cross-site scripting in The Open University Open Media Player 1.5.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject script via a TTML URL. The webvtt method in application/controllers/timedtext.php accepts ttml_url without restricting it to the trusted podcast.open.ac.uk origin, allowing attacker-controlled timed text to reach browser-rendered output. A low-privileged user must supply the URL and a victim must load the resulting content; the reported consequence is script execution in the victim's browser.
