Arbitrary file read via wildcard path traversal
Published Dec 27, 2022 · Updated Apr 11, 2025
Path traversal in Goa before 1.4.3, 2.0.10, or 3.0.9 allows remote attackers to read files outside the intended directory. Controller.FileHandler accepts parent-directory segments and resolves a wildcard-derived path without first rejecting traversal above the endpoint's mount point. An unauthenticated request reaches the flaw only when a service exposes a wildcard Files endpoint; disclosure is limited to files readable by the server process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
