Browser-version disclosure via bundled ad-block rules
Published Jan 26, 2022 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Information disclosure in Bromite through 78.0.3904.130 allows remote attackers to identify its version through crafted web content. The release APK embeds ad-block rules whose resource-blocking decisions expose a version-specific response pattern. Visiting attacker-controlled content is sufficient, and the disclosed version defeats the frozen User-Agent's version concealment without exposing page data.
