CVE-2019-25030

Password disclosure via non-adaptive password hashing

Published May 26, 2021 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Insufficient password protection in Versa Director, Versa Analytics, and VOS allows local users to recover stored passwords offline. The products store passwords with fast Merkle-Damgard hashes such as MD5 or SHA-1 instead of an adaptive password hash or key-derivation function, making precomputed-hash attacks practical. Exploitation requires local low-privilege access and exposes stored credentials without altering data or interrupting service.
