Stored XSS via unsanitized Grid header captions
Published Apr 23, 2021 · Updated Sep 16, 2024
Stored XSS in Vaadin Framework and Vaadin Server 7.4.0 through 7.7.19 and 8.0.0 through 8.8.4 allows remote attackers to run JavaScript. The Grid header renderer places a column caption into generated markup without sanitizing script-related HTML, so persisted attacker-controlled caption data executes in a viewer's browser. Exposure requires an application to let untrusted users add Grid columns that other users view; the script can read or alter data available to the viewer.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
