CVE-2019-25018Network attack vector

Directory-permission modification via special filenames

Published Feb 2, 2021 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Incorrect authorization in MIT krb5-appl rcp through 1.0.3 allows remote attackers to modify target-directory permissions. The rcp client accepts a server-supplied "." or empty filename as a target and applies requested permission changes to the target directory. Exploitation requires the client to retrieve content from a malicious rcp server; the bounded impact is alteration of directory permissions.
