Unauthorized team membership via omitted domain check
Published Jun 19, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Access-control bypass in Mattermost Server before 5.8.0 allows remote attackers to join an open team despite its email-domain restriction. The open-team join path creates membership after checking that the team is open but does not enforce the team AllowedDomains requirement against the requester. A reachable open team with an approved-domain restriction is required; successful exploitation grants unauthorized access to that team and its content.
