CVE-2019-20770

Local code execution via HAL buffer overflow

Published Apr 17, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

A buffer overflow in the HAL service on LG mobile devices running Android 9.0 allows local users to execute arbitrary code. The public record states that the service overruns a buffer but does not identify the affected function, attacker-controlled input, or missing bounds check. Exploitation requires low-privilege local access and no user interaction; successful exploitation executes arbitrary code in the HAL service's context.
