Credential guessing via unrestricted login attempts
Published Apr 15, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Missing login rate limiting in NETGEAR WAC505 and WAC510 before 8.0.6.4 allows remote attackers to perform unrestricted credential guessing. NETGEAR's release notes identify a login form that accepts repeated authentication attempts without enforcing a request limit or backoff. Attackers must be adjacent to the wireless network, and a correct guess exposes account-protected information without reported integrity or availability impact.
