Stack-based buffer overflow in Samsung Exynos baseband software on Android 7.x through 9.0 allows physically proximate attackers to execute code. The Shannon modem's IMMEDIATE ASSIGNMENT handler copies a length-controlled Mobile Allocation information element into a fixed-size stack buffer without validating its size. A crafted GSM network message reaches the baseband without authentication or user interaction and grants code execution in the modem.
