CVE-2019-20538

Local memory corruption via knox_kap heap overflow

Published Mar 24, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Heap overflow in the knox_kap driver on Samsung mobile devices with Android 9.0 allows local users to corrupt heap memory. The public record names the affected driver and heap overflow but does not disclose the input, operation, or missing bounds check that causes the overwrite. Local low-privileged access is required and no user interaction is needed; the documented outcome is bounded to memory corruption because code execution or privilege escalation is not established.
