Unauthorized Bluetooth pairing via lock-screen bypass
Published Mar 24, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Authentication bypass in Samsung mobile devices running Android 8.x or 9.0 allows physically proximate attackers to pair new Bluetooth devices. The lock screen permits a new Bluetooth pairing without completing normal unlock authentication, but Samsung has not disclosed the responsible component or code path. Physical proximity and a locked, Bluetooth-capable device are required; the impact is unauthorized modification of trusted-device relationships.
