Script execution via unescaped setup username
Published Mar 18, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Reflected XSS in Ignite Realtime Openfire 4.4.1 allows remote attackers to execute script through the web-based setup test page. The setup/setup-datasource-standard.jsp page writes the username parameter into its HTML response without neutralizing it. Exploitation requires a victim to follow a crafted request while the setup interface is reachable, exposing data and page actions in that browser context.
