CVE-2019-20487Network attack vector

Router configuration changes via unauthenticated GET requests

Published Mar 2, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Cross-site request forgery in NETGEAR WNR1000V4 firmware 1.1.0.54 allows remote attackers to change settings via crafted GET requests. The setup.cgi handler processes the todo=save_htp_account action as a state-changing GET without requiring authentication or verifying the request origin. Direct exploitation requires management-console network access; cross-site exploitation requires a user to load attacker-controlled content that can reach the router.
