Configuration compromise via default SNMP community strings
Published Nov 7, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Incorrect access control in the Epson Expression Home XP-255 20.08.FM10I8 SNMP agent allows remote attackers to read and alter settings. The agent accepts the public community for unrestricted reads and the epson community for writes to every changeable value. Network access to UDP port 515 is sufficient; exposed writes can replace DNS servers or permanently disable the network interface, while reads disclose device values.
