Stored XSS via unescaped roleToAuthorize input
Published Jan 27, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Stored XSS in four WSO2 registry UI releases allows remote authenticated users to execute script in another user's browser. The affected releases are API Manager 2.6.0, Enterprise Integrator 6.5.0, IS as Key Manager 5.7.0, and Identity Server 5.8.0; roleToAuthorize stores attacker-supplied markup and renders it when the affected page loads. Registry access with high privileges is required, and another user must load the page; execution can alter the UI or read browser-accessible data, but protected session cookies prevent session hijacking.
