CVE-2019-20438Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored script execution via documentation code view

Published Jan 27, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Stored XSS in WSO2 API Manager 2.6.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through API documentation. The API Publisher's inline documentation editor stores an XSS payload entered in code view and executes it whenever a user loads the page. The attacker needs high-privilege API Publisher access, and a victim must load the affected page; scripts can alter the UI, redirect the browser, or read browser data, but protected session cookies prevent session hijacking.
