Remote code execution via unsafe Velocity introspection
Published Jun 23, 2020 · Updated Sep 17, 2024
Server-side template injection exposure in Atlassian Jira Server before 8.8.0 allows remote attackers to execute code through Velocity templates. Jira's Velocity setup lacked the Secure Introspector hardening, allowing a separately injectable template to resolve unsafe objects and methods during rendering. Exploitation requires another server-side template injection path; this hardening gap does not provide an independent entry point.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
